Research area and interests

My research activities are done in the C2S2 (Component Circuit Signal and high frequency Systems) Department of the research institute XLIM based in Limoges, France. In this structure, I am a member of the research team ESTE (Study of Telecommunication Systems) where I am developing activities in the domain of optical digital communication. My research interests cover error correcting codes, optical CDMA, wireless optical communications and communicating systems for e-health. I am involved in the emerging project named Systems and Communication Networks for e-health. In this context, studies are developedfor indoor wireless patient monitoring consideringInfra Red (IR) technology and a mobile transmission.


Research Facilities

Hardware

· Our group is working on the realization of a prototypeusing microcontrollersto establish the indoor optical wireless communication considering mobility of the transmitter. The aim is to transmit vital data measurements (heart rate frequency, temperature…) by using optical wireless communication in the IR range based on a diffuse propagation.

· Our capabilities are in the domain of digital signal processing algorithm implementation on microcontrollers, DSP or FPGA.

Software

· In order to model the mobile optical wireless communication and to numerically evaluate the system performance, several simulations can be done thanks to the software developed in our group.

· First, we have developed a program able to take into account any transmitter mobility, and evaluating the outage probability for an indoor optical wireless communication considering mobility of the transmitter. The performances can be evaluated in the LOS configuration and diffuse one considering the ceiling bounce model.

· Rapsor simulator permits taking into account more than one reflection in the diffuse and hybrid LOS / diffuse schemes. In addition, any element present in the room can be defined (walls, floor, ceiling, windows, obstacles,..) by its shape and its reflectivity.
