How to reach Pisa

By Air

Direct flights connect Galileo Galilei International Airport to various Italian cities and numerous European and other international destinations.

Primarily low cost airlines operate to and from Pisa airport.

The airport is approximately 1 kilometer from the historic center of the city of Pisa, at the Pisa Aeroporto exit of the Florence-Pisa-Livorno dual carriageway (SGC FI-PI-LI), and the A12 Genova-Rosignano motorway.

A number of car hire companies service Pisa airport.

The city center can be reached in just a few minutes by trains that connect the railway terminal of the airport with Pisa Centrale station.

Furthermore, a city bus (LAM Rossa) connects the airport to the Central Station and the center of Pisa every 10 minutes. The city bus terminus is located just outside the arrivals side of the airport.

The taxi rank is also found at the airport exit, on the arrivals side. The Radio Taxi service (24 h) operates in the city of Pisa, telephone +39 050 541600.

An information point is available at the arrivals gate.

By Train

Pisa Centrale station is one of the principal regional and national railway junctions. Frequent trains run to Florence, Rome, Genoa and Lucca.

The station is at the southern edge of the city's historical center, around one and a half kilometers from the airport and two hundred meters from the extra-urban bus terminal at Piazza Sant'Antonio. The taxi rank and the bus stop for urban routes direct to Piazza dei Miracoli, the airport and Cisanello hospital center can be found outside the railway terminal. The station also provides a luggage storage service.

Travel tickets must be stamped, under penalty of sanction, in the designated yellow ticket machines situated next to the ticket office and along the platforms.

Visit www.ferroviedellostato.it for information on arrival and departures times.

By Bus

Long distance coaches: Long distance lines operate to connect Pisa to various Italian regions, mostly central/southern Italy:

Autolinee Sena, from The Marche, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Sicily, Puglia (arrives at the Via Pietrasantina terminal).

Autolinee Moretti, from Basilicata.

Autolinee Marozzi, from Basilicata and Puglia.
